WE’RE second to naan and it’s official. Indian Voojan has come top in our online survey to find Cheltenham’s finest Indian restaurant. Staff at the Montpellier restaurant are celebrating after topping the poll, which means they will go on to represent the town in the Tiffin Cup – a prestigious competition that ranks the UK’s top Asian eateries.
In a hotly-contested competition, more than 11,000 people logged on to www.thisisgloucestershire.co.uk to cast their votes. Despite being pushed all the way by Eurasia, in Hewlett Road, Indian Voojan came out on top, securing 47 per cent of the votes cast.
Ali Ansar, owner of the Indian and Bangladeshi eatery, which has been open since 2008, said: “We’re delighted with the result. I’d like to thank all our customers for voting for us. We always try to go the extra mile in producing high-quality cuisine. This will inspire us to keep raising the bar.”
